Transportation

Helping families get where they need to go — with dignity, care, and support.

Accessing medical care for a child with a serious illness often means long, frequent trips to out-of-area hospitals and specialists. On California’s Central Coast, there are no local children’s specialty hospitals, and many families face hours of travel each way — often multiple times a week.

At Partnership for Children, transportation is at the heart of our mission. We believe no family should miss a medical appointment because they don’t have a ride or can’t afford gas.

What We Provide

  • Coordination support to help families navigate transportation logistics and appointment schedules

  • Safe, reliable rides to and from medical appointments for children and their caregivers

  • Gas cards to help families who are able to drive but need help covering the cost

How It Helps

Transportation can be one of the biggest barriers to care — especially for families balancing work, childcare, and financial stress. Our transportation support helps:

  • Ensure children don’t miss essential treatments and appointments

  • Reduce stress and logistical burdens on caregivers

  • Keep families connected to consistent, compassionate care

Our Fleet Sponsors

  • Children’s Miracle Network at Salinas Valley Health Foundation sponsors our “Miracle Mobiles” and grants funding to support the rides to medical care service.

We’ve had three versions of the “ Miracle Mobile” so far: 2016 (retired), 2019, and check out our new all blue 2024 model below!

  • Measure X funding (managed through the Transportation Agency of Monterey County) funded the purchase of a vehicle for our fleet in 2020 to increase transportation for children and youth living with serious illness in Monterey County.

  • Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford donated two Toyota Priuses to our fleet as over 70% of rides to medical care are to LPCH hospitals and clinics.

If you or your business would like to sponsor a vehicle for Partnership for Children’s fleet
